The Man Behind the Wrench: Meet John
From Black Hawks to Big Rigs My journey to becoming your go-to RV technician didn't start in a garage—it started in the U.S. Army. Joining in 2006, I spent over a decade as a UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter Repairer and Crew Chief. Later, as a Flight Instructor, I learned that in aviation, there is no room for "close enough." Precision is everything. After three deployments and 14 years of service, I medically retired in 2022, but that "mission-first" mindset never left me.
The Spark for JD’s RV Service Truthfully, I didn’t plan on starting a business until I was sitting in a generator certification class at the NRVTA. I realized there was a massive gap in quality mobile service in our area (Area Code 40175). When I talked to my wife, Gretel—who runs Ms. Honeybees Grooming in Flaherty—she gave me the push I needed. She believed in my skills long before I did, and I give her all the credit for JD’s RV Service, LLC coming to life.
Certified Expertise You Can Trust I don’t just "fix things"; I study them. I am an RVTAA Certified Technician with specialized certifications in Generators and Solar, and I am currently completing my NRVIA Inspector credentials. Whether it’s a complex solar audit or a stubborn generator, I bring 2.5+ years of hands-on RV experience backed by a lifetime of mechanical expertise.
Life in Vine Grove We are proud to call Meade County home. Being close to family in Kentucky and Corydon, IN, is exactly where we want to be. When I’m not under a rig, I’m usually hanging out with Gretel and our "farm"—6 dogs and 8 cats! As owners of a 2021 Forest River Sabre, we know exactly what it’s like to crave that next camping trip.
Why Solar? I’ve become a total nerd for solar power. There is nothing like the freedom of "Off-Grid Liberty," and I love helping fellow RVers design, build, and configure systems that let them take their "home away from home" anywhere without compromise.
